Our client is currently seeking a Medical Secretary to join their team either full-time or on a job share basis.



Job Title: Medical Secretary


Location: Outskirts of Exeter


Duration: 2 to Permanent


Hours: 37.5 - Monday to Friday 9am-5pm OR 8am-4pm


Job-Share will be considered.


Salary: £12.00 per hour



The Role: Our client is seeking an experienced Medical Secretary with a proven health care or Practice background to join their busy team! You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial and administrative tasks and the provision of administrative support to the multidisciplinary team including the processing of information (electronic and hard copy) in a timely manner, liaising with team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers and using of the electronic referral service (ERS).



Key Duties:


� Typing letters, reports and associated documentation.


� Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently.


� Maintaining an accurate referrals database and processing referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS).


� Actioning all incoming email and processing calling letters.


� Scanning patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient's health care records.


� Inputting data into the patient's health care records.


� Processing requests for information i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitor's letters and DVLA forms.


� Coding data on the clinical IT system.


� Answering incoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately.


� Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as required.


� Produce meeting agendas and record the minutes of meetings.


� Support reception staff, providing cover during staff absences.


� Complete opening and closing procedures in accordance with the duty rota.



About You:



  • Strong administrative experience

  • Previous GP experience, with the use and understanding of System One.

  • Excellent people skills, emphatic and friendly manner

  • Effective time management and ability to prioritise changing workload.

  • Strong IT skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Motivated and able to work with high levels of integrity at all times.
