Job Title: Finance Assistant


Location: West Kent


Salary: £15 - £18ph (depending on experience)


Contract Details: Fixed Term Contract


Working Pattern: Flexible working hours - 25hrs per week!


Are you a detail-oriented and motivated individual with a passion for finance? We are currently seeking a Finance Assistant to join our client's dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a highly regarded organisation and contribute to their financial operations.


Responsibilities:



  • Input data of all receipts paid by BACs and direct credit, including DFE receipts, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.

  • Maintain a safe record of all receipts and ensure prompt banking and computer entry.

  • Set up and manage standing orders and direct debits as necessary.

  • Reconcile credit card statements with receipts and ensure all costs are accurately recorded.

  • Sign off on all expenditure and closely monitor budgets at year-end.

  • Check invoices, verify VAT, and process payments accordingly.

  • Calculate and input monthly accruals based on metre readings and usage.

  • Prepare monthly reconciliations of bank statements and cash book before seeking approval from the Bursar.

  • Provide budget reports to all relevant stakeholders on a monthly basis or as requested.

  • Perform necessary month-end procedures, including VAT reconciliation and control code balance checks.

  • Assist in preparing the VAT return and inputting output and input tax to the VAT control code.

  • Review figures and investigate any anomalies that may arise.

  • Conduct calculations for various accruals, such as gas, electricity, oil, laundry, auditor's fees, sewerage, and benefits in kind.

  • Produce reports as required and ensure all year-end procedures are correctly followed.
